City sees increase in website, social media traffic for third year

Durango, CO: For the third year in a row the City of Durango’s website has seen an increase in annual page views, with nearly 1,689,000 visitors in 2022.

“We are thrilled to see a continued increase in our website traffic,” said Denise Telck, public information specialist. “Our team has been working hard to improve our online presence and create a better user experience for our visitors. This increase in traffic is a testament to our efforts and dedication.”

The city saw a notable uptick in website traffic in 2020, likely due to residents looking for information regarding COVID-19. However, even with COVID-19 restrictions lifted, Durango’s web traffic has continued to show a steady increase year over year.

Roughly 25% of web traffic is from locals. User demographics for 2022 are fairly equal, with 50.24% female users and 49.76% male. Most people who access the city’s website do so on their mobile devices. 

On social media the City of Durango’s YouTube views are up 20% since 2021 with total watch time in hours up 23.5%. For the past two year the city’s Facebook page has reached over 2.1 million people through various posts throughout the year and reach on Instagram doubled from 2021 to 2022. The city's Facebook followers went up 12.7% with over 10,000 total, Twitter followers went up 4.1% with with over 6,000 total, and Instagram went up 26.6% with 3,000 total followers.
