Controlled burn of slash piles to continue

PrescribeBurn_update

Durango, CO:  The Durango Parks and Recreation Department continues to work with Durango Fire Protection District (DFPD) and Colorado Division of Fire Prevention and Control (DFPC) to conduct slash pile burning, as weather conditions permit. Slash piles created throughout city of Durango-owned open space are being monitored as our region receives snow. As conditions allow, the crews will work throughout the project areas shown in the map below.

Signs will be posted at treatment areas in advance of the pile burning to provide notice of upcoming work. Trails, trailheads, and parking areas will remain open to the public. However, users should be aware that DFPD and DFPC staff and vehicles will be in the area.

Prescribed fire smoke may affect your health. For more information, please go to: https://cdphe.colorado.gov/indoor-air-quality/wood-smoke-and-health

Smoke and fire may be visible for several days after completion of this project. DFPD and DFPC along with Parks and Recreation Department staff will be monitoring this area daily. Thank you for your understanding.
