Slash piles to burn in Dalla Mountain Park

PrescribeBurn_update

Durango, CO: The Durango Parks and Recreation Department is working with Durango Fire Protection District and the Colorado Division of Fire Prevention and Control to burn slash piles in Dalla Mountain Park on Dec. 16, as weather conditions permit.

Slash piles have been created to remove debris and reduce hazardous fuel accumulation to help reduce the risk of larger wildfires. Dalla Mountain Park trails, trailheads and parking areas will remain open to the public. However, users should be aware that fire crews and their vehicles will be in the area.

Prescribed-fire smoke may affect your health. For more information, please go to: https://cdphe.colorado.gov/indoor-air-quality/wood-smoke-and-health

Smoke and fire may be visible for several days after completion of this project. Fire crews and Parks and Recreation staff will monitor this area daily. Thank you for your understanding.

For more information, contact the Parks and Recreation Department at (970) 375-7321 or rec@durangogov.org
