Below are the award recipients as well as information about their outstanding transit contributions.
Transit Champion of the Year
After receiving a number of outstanding nominations for this category, the awards committee selected two winners – Sarah Hill of Durango Transit and Gail Nehls of Envida.
Sarah’s nomination reads:
“Sarah Hill is the epitome of Colorado Transportation Professional of the Year! Sarah is a fierce advocate for rural transportation - whether she is attending a meeting as the STAC rep for Southwest Colorado, attending a SWCCOG Transit Council meeting, being Director for the Durango T, advocating for transit funding in Washington, D.C., assisting other small rural providers in her region with moving projects forward, or having a casual evening out with friends, transit is always at the forefront of Sarah's mind. She is an inspiration to those she works with and she has successfully moved forward meaningful transit initiatives and projects in rural areas.”
