The Opportunity Bus is available for any transportation needs you have, not just for medical appointments. Grocery shopping, trips to the recreation and senior centers, or meeting a friend for lunch, these all qualify.

Where Does It Go?
The Opportunity Bus provides door-to-door service within the city limits of Durango and within 3/4 of a mile of the fixed-route service area. Service if also available to and from the Three Springs area.
Hours Of Operation
The Opportunity Bus operates during the same hours as the fixed-route services which is seven days a week from 7:00 am through 8:30 pm. The Opportunity Bus does not operate on holidays when there are no fixed-route services.
What To Expect
The Opportunity Bus provides door-to-door transportation service and makes every effort to pick up and drop off our passengers at their scheduled times and locations.
In order to help us run safely and efficiently, we request that you be ready to go at least 15 minutes before your scheduled pickup times. In order to avoid getting behind schedule, our drivers will wait no longer than five minutes after your scheduled pickup time. Waiting any longer would cause other riders to miss their appointment times.
You will often be traveling with other passengers on the Opportunity Bus. Scheduling a ride assures you a seat on the bus but does not reserve the entire bus for your ride.
Drivers will not be able to provide personal assistance. You must be ready to be picked up at the ground-level front door of your pickup location. If you are unable to get yourself ready for your pickup, you will need to have a Personal Care Attendant (PCA) assist you. If you need assistance once you have reached your destination, please make arrangements to have someone meet you or have a PCA ride with you. PCA’s can accompany you at no charge.
When purchasing groceries, please purchase only what our drivers can easily carry to your front door in one trip.
Safety for our passengers, as well as our drivers, is a top priority. Therefore, we require that wheelchairs be in good operating condition. Handgrips must be tight, breaks must be in good working condition, etc. For those passengers who use a wheelchair, an approved ramp is required if there is more than one step over 8” at the pickup or destination location.
Cancellation Policy
If you need to change or cancel your ride please do so as soon as possible. Canceling or changing your ride at the last minute reduces the availability of our service for other riders.
All cancellations and changes must be submitted to Durango Transit no later than 4:30pm on the day before your scheduled ride. Failure to do so will result is a “no show” or “late cancellation” designation and you will be charged for the ride.
Failure to cancel your ride prior to 4:30pm on the day before your scheduled ride or other violations of Opportunity Bus Policies could result in a suspension of your eligibility.
Please note that monthly passes do not apply to this service.
