Aviation Celebration

Aviation Celebration

Date: September 17, 2016
Time: 10am – 4pm
Location: Durango-La Plata County Airport

The Durango-La Plata County Airport is hosting a second annual Aviation Celebration on Saturday, September 17th. From 10 am until 4 pm, all members of the community will have the opportunity to view military and private aircraft displays, talk to pilots, and learn about the airport and its role in the regional economy.

Admission to this event is free to the public and parking is also free. The headliner for this year’s show is the US Army Golden Knights parachute jump team, who will be performing two exciting skydiving routines. Make sure to be present in the 10 am and 3 pm hours for these performances! The Celebration will include food vendors, music, activities for children, fire & rescue equipment tours, airport snow removal equipment tours, and many door prizes. You will also have the opportunity to purchase a ride on a WWII aircraft and even drive a Ferrari on the runway! Nearly 1,800 people attended last year’s Celebration, and we hope that even more will participate in this year’s event.

This is a great event for all ages, and it’s free!

Learn about the 1943 Beechcraft SNB-5 that will be selling rides at the Celebration. Rear seats sell for $99 or sit in the copilot seat for $150. Tickets may be purchased on site.

Would you like to drive a Ferrari or Lamborghini down the airport’s runway at high speed? Tickets are 50% off when making a pre-purchase online. Use the discount code "Celebration" during checkout. All drivers must be over the age of 18 and present a valid driver’s license and proof of full-coverage auto insurance.

One more WWII era aircraft will be present at the Celebration. This 1945 TBM Avenger will not be offering rides, but you can tour the aircraft and learn about its history.
