  • Requiring new businesses to provide space for recycling bin
  • Offering recycling for electronics
  • Hosting a Household Hazardous Waste Collection Event every other year
  • Electronically distributing the City's Annual Report
  • Electronically distributing the City's Annual Budget
  • Recycling automotive waste from fleet vehicles
  • Recycling asphalt
  • Providing an employee compost at City Hall

Please visit durangorecycles.com for more information on recycling including our Single Stream Recycling Program, electronics recycling, hazardous waste, and special events.

Spring and Fall Cleanup
City residents have the opportunity to discard their yard waste and acceptable trash items. Residents are also offered free mulch through the processing of the organic debris. Please visit durangogov.org/cleanup for pickup schedule and acceptable items.

Feed your landscape, not the landfill!
During cleanup times the city encourages urban foraging. Interested urban foragers and local gardening gurus are encouraged to collect leaves during fall cleanup for local reuse and recycling. Please check the website for fall cleanup dates. Foragers should collect the leaves in advance of the City crews. Leaves that are collected during fall cleanup can be worked directly into garden and flowerbed soils. Adding leaves to your gardens will improve aeration and drainage and enhance water and nutrient holding capacity.
