Municipal Court
Functions & Responsibilities
The Municipal Court maintains files on every summons issued by the City of Durango and Fort Lewis College police departments for violations of municipal law. The court also hears all cases involving such violations and reports applicable convictions to the appropriate authorities. 

Durango Municipal Court has jurisdiction over a variety of municipal ordinances including, but not limited to:
  • Animal protection
  • Code Enforcement
  • Disturbing the peace
  • Obtaining goods under false pretenses
  • Parking   
  • Traffic  
  • Possession of marijuana under one ounce and drug paraphernalia
  • Resisting arrest
  • Trespassing
  • Underage alcohol consumption

Clerk of the Municipal Court 
The City of Durango Municipal Court Clerk serves as Court Administrator. The Administrator and staff act as support to the Municipal Judges and handle the daily administrative duties of the Municipal Court. The Administrator is responsible for the record of the hearing and all court files. 

The Municipal Court office is open Monday – Friday between 7:30 AM and 3:30 PM.
