City Turf Fertilization and Weed Abatement Scheduled

The City of Durango promotes Best Management Practices in the stewardship of City lands to ensure the safe enjoyment of parks in the community. The City has contracted with Scott’s Pro-Lawn for turf fertilization and noxious weed abatement. The herbicide that will be used is called Vessel Broadleaf Herbicide and Q4 Turf Herbicide. Applications are conducted to improve the quality of the right-of-ways, parks and open spaces in the City’s system. The weed control is repeatedly tested and approved by the Environmental Protection Agency and Scott’s Pro-Lawn is licensed by the Colorado Department of Agriculture.

Spraying will commence on April 17, 2019 and continue through May 5, 2019. Dates are subject to change based on weather conditions. 

Wednesday, April 17, 2019 the following areas will be sprayed: Memorial Park, Rio Vista Park and Animas City Park.

Thursday, April 18, 2019 the following areas will be sprayed: Crestview Park, Viles Park and Roosa Park.

Friday, April 19, 2019 the following area will be sprayed: Historic Tram Park  

Monday, April 22, 2019 the following areas will be sprayed: Hillcrest View Park and Jenkins Ranch Park.

Tuesday, April 23, 2019 the following areas will be sprayed: 3rd Avenue Parkway and Fassbinder Park

Wednesday, April 24, 2019 the following area will be sprayed:  Rotary Park, Downtown Brown, Buckley Park, and Chapman Hill turf.

Thursday, April 25, 2019 the following areas will be sprayed:  Confluence Park, Santa Rita Park, Whitewater Park turf area.

Monday, April 29, 2019 the following area will be sprayed:  Greenmount Cemetery

Tuesday, April 30, 2019 the following areas will be sprayed: Rank Park and Community Recreation Center

Sunday, May 5, 2019 the following areas will be sprayed:  Devin Hart Memorial field, Riverview Sports Complex, Mason turf, and Carnegie building turf.
