Historic Preservation Board
Board Overview
The purpose of the Historic Preservation Board is to protect and preserve the city's historic and cultural heritage as embodied in designated historic landmarks and districts by appropriate regulations.
The board reviews nominations to the Durango Historic Register, reviews alterations to historic structures, provides help to property owners with historic structures, develops programs to enhance historic preservation in the city, and provides public education.

Special Requirements
Membership guidelines state at least 40% of commission members shall be professionals in preservation-related disciplines, such as architecture, landscape architecture, architectural history, archaeology, history, planning, American studies, American civilization, cultural geography, or cultural anthropology.
